Can triops be in the same tank as small 1-inch minnows? Will the minnows kill triop eggs or infants or attack?

Question by Kat: Can triops be in the same tank as small 1-inch minnows? Will the minnows kill triop eggs or infants or attack?
Also, do minnows eat fairy shrimp? I know triops do.

Answer by Dan M
I think you asked this same question twice. Triops and minnows cannot be kept together. It all depends on relative size and who attacks first that determines who survives this experiment. If there are any survivors, that is.

Minnows will find and eat the Triops and the Triops eggs of any size. The adult Triops may catch and eat one of the small minnows, but this will not stop the other minnows from trying to kill and eat the Triops.

Minnows eat fairy shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, Triops and anything else that could hatch out of a Triops kit. Cyclops can chew on your fish, so they are not a good choice as a live food.

Ok, so… do fairies HAVE to really puny and tiny?

Question by Sylus Alexander: Ok, so… do fairies HAVE to really puny and tiny?
I just really want to know, because in my story there’s this boy fairy and — I don’t want to tell anyone so they don’t steal my ideas. Ok, so I personally really don’t like fairies, but I’ll accept it for this story… lmeo.

Now, I know that fairies are really puny, and small, and tiny, and shrimps, and diminutive, and petite, and pocket – sized human beings…. but I just want to know if there are any human sized fairies!? Please answer my question peepoles! I really want to know! Because I just don’t like the puny shrimps… pardon my language. *^_^*

Answer by Carverpuny shrimps, oh heavens to betsy, the profanity!
Anyway, I think elves can be considered human height? They are fictional so make them what you want.

Stocking a 30 Gallon FOWLR tank?

Question by Diver1070: Stocking a 30 Gallon FOWLR tank?

Stocking a 30 gallon FOWLR tank?
I plan on starting up a 30 gallon FOWLR tank sometime this Fall. I was thinking about something along the lines of this:

A pair of Percula clowns
A Coral Beauty dwarf angelfish
A 3-4″ Fairy wrasse or Flasher wrasse
A goby or blenny of some kind (like a Canary Fang Blenny, Bicolor Blenny, or Shrimp Goby)
And either an Orchid or Sunrise Dottyback, or a Starcki Damsel

The clowns are non-negotiable, but the dottybacks aren’t. I know they can be real hellions, so a Starcki Damsel would easily replace them. For the others, any substitutes would be open to change.
I also know that the angel is pushing it in size, but all of what I have studied, including numerous reference books by authors I trust, tell me that a Coral Beauty will be fine for a 30 gallon.

The Starcki Damsel would replace the dottybacks easily and isn’t as aggressive as other damsels, so it would make a great substitute.

Also, would just a suitable power filter be enough with live rock, or would I need a protein skimmer as well?

Please, I am not an idiot and [...] Continue Reading…

Best answer:
Answer by MikeYou really cant compare liver rock and filters to a skimmer. With a 30 gallon tank, the Skimmer is really not something worth having. Weekly water changes will keep organic waste down. 30 gallon tanks can normally only use mini skimmers and these are pieces of crap according to everyone that’s used them.

Personally, I’d never get a 30 gallon salt water tank unless I was getting [...] Continue Reading…

Would you check my letter written in English?

Question by mango: Would you check my letter written in English?
I wrote two letters with the same contents to the kid I sponsor.

One is written in my mother tongue and the other in English.
There are volunteers who translate letters, but they are not also professionals, so I did it by myself.
Would you check it?

———————–
I was really happy to receive the letter from you.
I got it on August 6th.
It took a long journey, didn’t it?
My letters are also going to be in your hand after several months.

I wonder who wrote the letter in English. It doesn’t seem to be written by an adult. Did you write it or ask someone to do it instead?

I got the report about your health. According to it, you are 111cm tall and 18kg. Is it right? I am a little worried if you regularly have a meal. Studying is good, but health is essential for your dream come true. Don’t skip your meal.

What is your favorite food?
I like “Kimchi” which is the seasoning cabbage. It is the representative food of Korea. It might taste a little hot to you.
Do you like fish? I like seafood such [...] Continue Reading…

2 gallon fish bowl, 3 guppies?

Question by Noo: 2 gallon fish bowl, 3 guppies?
at least 2 gallons of water (its about 10 liters), 3 tiny guppies, plants, filtration gravel, clean water, not fed too much, 1 cup of water changed everyday, lots of love, thinking of adding some fairy shrimp.

am i cruel?
people tell me im cruel for keeping a fish bowl?!
i’m paranoid now :( lady in shop said it was fine!
i think i have my measurements on the tank wrong. its a huge bowl, probs about 30cm’s radius then it bulbs out at the bottom.

if i knew it was cruel i wouldnt have done it!
i love fish and thats why i wanted to keep them, i thought pet shop lady could be trusted!

Best answer:
Answer by KimFish bowls are not for fish. Guppies need 10 gallons and 4-5 guppies would stock a 10 gallon fish tank.

It is rather cruel the water is not heated. And guppies need 78-80.

Edit: It’s not only the size but the shape of a bowl that is bad. It doesn’t have much surface area which limits the amount of oxygen in the water. You can’t put a proper filter in there Undergeravel filters are really glorified bubblers they only trap [...] Continue Reading…
